The Garden Shed

This was our biggest backyard project so far and also the most fun. The front face and back are made from pallet boards. The roof is actually leftover cable tray covers that were once shiny, but we aged to give a more patina look. The porch is by far my favorite part. It is one of the most comfortable seats in the yard because of it's AM shade from the sun and the breeze that comes around the building.

The Veggie Garden

Raised garden bed for tomato, pepper, and radish plants: The first of many backyard DIYs.

Support system for my larger tomato plants.
Waiting for tomatoes to ripen.

We created the bed by attaching together a frame of landscape timbers. On the left side are my tomato plants that need more support than just a store-bought tomato cage can give. Instead, we took four metal fence stakes and drove them into the ground at both sides. Then we took some roll fencing we already had and used it to connect one post to the other. I also made larger holes through out the fencing by using a wire cutter so that could reach and pull off the tomatoes easier.

On the right side is another fence stake with fencing attached in a circle around it, along with those puny tomato cages for the smaller plants. I also tried my hand at zucchini, far right, but didn't get a single one out of it.

When everything was still growing.

Welcome!

I believe this to be the first ever blog post I have done. This blog is being set up as a gift to the best DIYer I know, my dad, for his birthday. You can look forward to seeing in future posts some of the DIY projects we have done, along with some plans for future ones. I hope you enjoy!
